Victorian Points Test, made simple

Victoria ranks every Registration of Interest (ROI) using the Victorian Points Test (VPT). Check the basic eligibility requirements, estimate your VPT score, and see if your occupation is on the 2026-27 priority list.

Program status: Victoria's 2025-26 skilled nomination program is closed to new ROIs. The 2026-27 priority industries are published and shown below.

Australian Government basics

Victoria only nominates people who also meet the federal visa requirements.

Process

How Victorian nomination works

  1. Lodge a SkillSelect EOI

Meet the Australian Government's visa requirements, including at least 65 points.

  2. Submit a Victorian ROI

ROIs are open to applicants in all eligible occupations.

  3. Get ranked by the VPT

Your VPT total is calculated from your EOI and ROI details.

  4. Invitation rounds

The highest-ranked ROIs at that time are invited to apply for nomination.

Pathway 1

Most competitive

Each round, the highest VPT totals across all eligible occupations in the pool are invited.

Pathway 2

Priority industry

Each round, the highest VPT totals within each priority industry or subgroup are also invited.

Every ROI is considered under both pathways automatically.

Good to know

Two sets of rules

You must meet both the Australian Government's visa requirements and Victoria's nomination requirements for subclass 190 or 491.

Your score is relative

Competitiveness depends on your VPT total compared with other applicants and the limited nomination places available.

No odds are given

Victoria can't tell you your likelihood of an invitation or how your points compare with others.

No priority for personal circumstances

Invitations are not prioritised for age, an expiring visa, or expiring supporting documents.

Not guaranteed

An invitation, or a successful nomination application, is not guaranteed.
